oops, missed a year

Despite my attempts to the contrary, blogging really just hasn't taken off for me. -I was going to post something lively about posting once a year, but then realized that it's been well over a year since I've blogged. Oops, my bad. Of course, my resolutions for the year include being more more engaged with friends and family, so once again, I will TRY to update a little more often.

So with that, I'm going to take advantage of the quiet time afforded by a shared bowl of dog food between the aforementioned 'Funyun' (AKA Beckett Rylan Kucher, born 11/6/2010) and his beloved Bull Terrier, Deuce and update on all that's going on with the Kuchers these days.

Ryan works at RAMC doing CT & Xray. He bowls when he can.

Sue Ann is the Assistant Director of the Reedsburg Public Library.

Beckett is 14 months old and actively exploring every waking minute of every day, with a side order of mayhem & a whole lot of "Yes I broke it, spilled it, unfolded it, climbed on it, licked it & tried to feed it to the dogs, but I'm way too cute for you to be mad for long, so get over it!". As for the dog food thing, I've tried saying NO. I've tried redirecting his attentions, I've tried putting the food up out of his reach... And since nothing seems to dissuade the lad from climbing, stealing & otherwise getting into the stuff, I've decided to choose another battle. He won't eat much & with Deuce's assistance, at least he's learning to share.

Deuce is a lot less afraid of things these days. May be something to do with his fearless sidekick & the fact that the boy has thumbs, can reach the high stuff & somehow manages to share all the good food.

Floss is still a little unsure of the new addition. She plays nice enough and enjoys the occasional hug, belly-rub & snuggle, but is not nearly so forgiving of the climbing, riding and ear pulling that Bex likes to partake in. She does, however enjoy the sharing of the people food. Tradeoffs, you know!

Vicious has been joining in family events a little more often. She seems to enjoy chasing toy balls & watching what gets shoved through the cat door & down the stairs. She's taking advantage of Deuce being otherwise occupied and even seems to enjoy the occasional hug, belly rub & even the small toddler head bumped into hers with a very endearing little "aaaaaahhhhhhh?"

So, everyone is healthy & happy and the blog is caught up once again.
And STILL only has one reader who mostly knows all this stuff anyways! :)
Maybe in 2012 we'll shoot for a readership of 3 or even 4!

Funyun...

For all those that read this blog (Shannon)... I am currently expecting. It's a little silly to post it on here, because #1- Shannon has known for a couple of months and #2 - no one else reads this blog.

One of these days I'll get around to posting something on Facebook. Some day in the distant future, perhaps I'll share this blog with other people and then people other than Shannon can keep up with the huge number of posts and updates I share here... LOL.

No keeping up with the Lauses!

So... I pledged LAST May (yes, May 08) that if Shannon could manage a blog, so could I.

In the past 16 months, Shannon has changed 5 million or so diapers, given birth, flown back & forth to the U.S. a couple of times, moved her family halfway across the Earth, purchased a house, AND managed to keep keep the world informed via E-mail, Facebook & her blog.

I have done exactly NONE of those things...
With the wedding date looming (46 days & counting), I aspire to cast off the obsession known as "wedding planning" that has overtaken my life & the lives of anyone who will listen. And once I have thrown off the stresses of expectation, tossed away the chains of convention, and written all the thank you cards, I vow that I, too, will navigate the Abyss of information overload to keep friends and family apprised of whatever may come.

Keeping up with the Laus-es

If Shannon can find the time to blog, I have no excuse not to. SO, rev up your RSS readers & be prepared for my feeble attempts to use technology to keep up with the Laus & keep everyone informed of the goings-on at the Kucher household...
